Super Bowl Lord’s Day

Super Bowl XLIII FootballAs far as I remember last night I watch my first Super Bowl game ever from beginning to end.  Why, you may ask?  Well, it was because I wasn’t in church.  Instead, our family went to some friends home, ate a great meal and enjoyed each other’s company while watching the yellow team and red team kick a pigskin ball around all evening.  Thinking about it now, I’m not even sure who won the game.  But I do know this.  Reports say that 97 million people watched this game.  NBC was paid 3 million dollars for each 30 second advertisement spot which added up to over 200 million.  Wal-mart and other retailers must have made thousands selling Super Bowl snacks and drinks.  And, thousands of church pews must have sat empty while 97 million were kneeling down to the god of sports and entertainment.  I wonder how many of these 97 million call themselves “Christ like” (Christian)?  There are probably several.  Do I think they are wrong if they missed church to watch a football game?  I’ll answer that question by asking this one, “Is the Lord our God a jealous God?”

I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

(Exo 20:2-6)

By the way, our church was completely empty last night.  There wasn’t one person at our church when the super bowl started.  Of course, there never is on Sunday evenings.  You see yesterday, like every other Sunday, we were at church all day.  We have Sunday school, morning services, a lunch fellowship and then afternoon services at 1:30 p.m.  Yesterday, we concluded our day at 3 p.m. with over an hour of singing praises to our Lord.  I’ve been told that our church has kept this schedule on Sunday’s since the “horse and buggy days.”  I love spending all day at church with my brothers and sisters in Christ.  I love sharing a meal and fellowshipping with the church.  I love focusing upon Christ all day and then coming home to rest in the evenings.  What usually happens is after coming home on Sunday afternoon our family will usually take a nap or just rest for an hour or two.  Then we will get up and many times go visiting.  Sometimes, we’ll invite people over and play games.  Sometimes we go to someone’s home and have coffee and cake.  Sometimes we’ll go visit someone who is lonely or sick.  Sometime’s we’ll go to other church services.  But regardless what we do, the day is always a day of worship, rest and enjoyment.  We look forward to Sunday.  In fact, it’s my favorite day of the week.  Unfortunately, that hasn’t always been true.  I’ve spent many Sunday’s exhausted, rushing to church, hurrying to grab some lunch, speeding back to the church for some meeting and the evening worship only to get home after dark, eating a late dinner and falling into bed worn out.  I don’t believe this is how God intended for us to spend the day worshiping Him.  Of course, in spite of the church schedule our attitudes play a huge role in regards to the Lord’s Day.  Once I came to realize that the day is not about me, me, me but all about Him, Him, Him the Lord’s Day took on a whole new meaning.  Having the schedule that our church does only helps to keep Christ preeminent on Sunday.

So back to Super Bowl Lord’s Day, it seems rather like an oxymoron.   But, many things in this world has become such.  Christian, where is your heart?  What are your eyes fixed upon?  Where is your affection placed?  Who do you serve?  To answer that question you must look at how you live, what you spend your time doing and how you spend your money.  Wouldn’t it be something if 97 million Christian people gave one dollar for the kingdom, gave one hour serving others, gave one day over to prayer and fasting for our country, gave one afternoon to witness to a lost neighbor or even spent one Super Bowl Sunday at church worshipping the One and Only True God of Heaven and Earth?  Now, that would be a super day!

Listen to me

handsMy youngest son is learning about different character traits as part of his Bible curriculum. This week I taught him about being attentive. All six year olds need to learn how to be attentive. Let me correct that statement. Every child, regardless of age, needs to learn how to be attentive. I find myself repeating commands throughout the day, saying, “Listen to me!” or “Are you paying attention?” or “Have you heard what I just said?”

Shortly after we were first married, Dana brought home a Cocker Spaniel puppy that we named Jesse.  This pup was out of control so we decided to take him to Doggy Obedience School. One of the first things the instructor taught us was that when we gave a command to only say it once. If you said, “Sit, Sit, SIT!!!!!” you would be training to dog to not obey at the first command. Since having children I’ve learned a few things. First, children are much smarter than animals. If a dog can be trained to sit, stay, and speak with the smallest of commands how much more should we expect intelligent children created in the image of God to be able to obey a simple command from their parents? Therefore, I’ve learned that the obedience of children will solely depend upon their training. Unfortunately, I’ve also learned that it’s much harder to retrain disobedient children than to properly train them from the beginning.

So, since this training is so important I wanted to really instill the trait of attentiveness upon my son. I took him to Proverbs 4:20-21, “My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.” I explained that being attentive means to listen with your ears, with your eyes and with your heart. “How do you listen with your eyes?” He asked. “Well son” I said, “There are times that you can just look at mommy and know what I want you to do without me even saying a word.” “And son” I said “without putting that knowledge in your heart you’re not really paying attention.”

Since I am but a child and my Father desires my attentiveness I have tried to apply these truths to my life as well. How many times does He have to say to me, “Listen to me”, “Are you paying attention?” or “Have you heard what I just said?” Too many times I’m afraid. So I’m learning to pay close attention to my Father and listen to the Words He has to say. But, I’m also learning that I can listen to my Father with my eyes. Psalm 32:8-9 says, “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.” In other words, don’t be as an animal that must have incentive to come to their master. Don’t be like the out of control puppy that is trained to expect a treat. Be the obedient child that gazes upon the Father and willingly and joyfully attends to His words. I know that when my eyes are fixed upon my Lord that all He has to do is nod His head to get my attention. On those days He doesn’t have to say a word because His Word is already hidden in my heart. But, I can always do better for there are many times I take my eyes off Him. So Lord, my prayer is that you will forgive me when I’m inattentive and help my be stay focused upon You.   After all, every child, regardless of age, needs to learn how to be attentive.

Can I have a puppy?…..pleeesssseeee!!!!

girl-and-puppy

My daughter loves animals.  For this reason she has begged for a little puppy of her own for years.  For her birthday this past year she had one request….a puppy.  For Christmas this year she asked for one thing…..a puppy.   When the lady cutting her hair at the salon asked her what she wanted for Christmas she replied a puppy.   When grandma and grandpa asked her what she wanted for Christmas she told them a new puppy.  When her brothers talked about Christmas she told them all she wanted was a puppy.  She reminded us ever week how responsible she would be and practically vexed us to death.  So this year, my husband and I finally agreed that if we could find her the right puppy we would allow her to have one.  We, of course, did not tell her this.  Instead, we decided to surprise her on Christmas morning.   I experience many joys in life as a mother of three, but the look on my daughters face when her daddy brought out her new puppy is one I hope I’ll never forget.

It thrills my heart as a parent to be able to bless my children, especially when it’s something they have been diligently asking for.  The relationship my children have with me and their father can be compared to my relationship with my Heavenly Father. Asking over and over again for something or praying and praying to God reminds me of the parable Jesus told in Luke 18 about the widow woman and the judge.

“And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?”   (Luke 18:1-8)

I wonder if children of God truly understand the magnificent privilege of prayer.  The Holy God of Heaven and Earth, who spoke the world in existence; who when He spoke the stars and planets were thrown into the sky and all things were by Him made; whom all of creation will bow before one day; this One and Only God will bend His ear towards me when I call out and He will hear my cries.   The parable of the widow woman and the judge is one to teach us not to lose heart when praying to our Father.  But there are many differences between the woman and judge and us and our Heavenly Father.  First of all, this woman was a stranger to the judge but we are God’s own children (Gal. 3:26).  The judge wished to keep this woman at a distance but our Father bids us to come boldly before the Throne (Heb. 4:16).  This was an unjust judge but we serve a righteous Father (2 Tim. 4:8).  This poor widow woman had no friend to speak for her but we have an Advocate, God’s own Son (I John 2:1).  She had no encouragement to keep on asking but we are told to ask in faith (James 1:6).  This lady only had access to the judge at certain times but we have unlimited access to cry day and night (Luke 18:7).  And lastly, her persistence was annoying to the judge but ours pleases the Father (Luke 18:8).  Yet, even with all these difference the unjust judge still answered the request of the widow woman.  How much more then will our Heavenly Father hear our continual, persistent prayers?

Perhaps you have prayed for years and years for a lost family member, perhaps your marriage is falling apart and you’ve been crying out to God to restore, perhaps you need a new job and you’ve been asking for direction, perhaps you have wayward children and you’ve been begging God to intervene, perhaps you have a terminal illness and only the Great Physician knows what to do or perhaps you have a home that must sell soon in a market that seems impossible.  It’s easy to lose heart, but we must remember to diligently ask in faith, for without faith it is impossible to please God.  It has been said that in order for prayers to reach Heaven they must first start in Heaven. This is so true.  When God places a pure desire on our heart and we ask, seek, and knock He delights in answering.

One day when my daughter was showing off her new puppy a man in our church asked her if that was the gift Santa Claus brought her for Christmas.  She just smiled.  I said, “Abigail, don’t give Santa credit for that gift you know it came from Dad and Mom.”  But the truth is that every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father!  (James 1:17)

A New Year’s Resolution

2009It’s a fairly quite morning here in our home so with high hopes I grab my Bible, computer and a cup of coffee and head to my favorite spot in the living room with a blanket and pillow for comfort.  It’s the second day of the New Year.  We spent Wednesday evening singing in the New Year with our church family and then spent the day yesterday with some dear friends.  The children rode 4-wheelers and go-carts, we shot guns and arrows, they lit fireworks, we fellowshipped and enjoyed the blessings of the first day of the year.  But now, with the holidays over, it’s time to get back to the normal routines of life.  So in order to catch up on the news and happenings of the world I pull out my computer and read the headlines.  I’m always somewhat hesitant in my heart, just because I get tired of horrific and gloomy news.  From the trash talk on CNN, to the report that the military is wary over our new president elect, to the murders, rapes, threats, recession, immoral politics, and talk of hate crimes; this morning was no different.  So with a deep sigh I begin to read the news.  It was then when one article grabbed my attention.  The title was:  A New Year’s Resolution: Could we be a little more polite, please?  The writer began to explain how rude people had become, as if this was a shock to any of us.  He stated that the biggest problem was that in today’s society rudeness is no longer something to be ashamed of, but rather applauded.  This is not only true among the youth but adults as well.  In fact, if we were to place blame it would have to be with the adults, for it is through their examples that the youth learn.  As the author stated the obvious throughout the article I began to wonder if he would offer a solution to this problem.  His conclusion was simply that times are getting hard, jobs are being lost, businesses are being closed and if we as a people have a hard time being kind and polite in the “boom years” how will we treat each other in the “lean years”?  On a positive note he ended saying that just maybe as life gets crueler perhaps we’ll get kinder.  As I read this I just shook my head.  Immediately, I thought of one particular passage in scripture.  The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. (Jer 17:9-10)  What amazes me is that we actually believe that apart from God there is any kindness or good in any of us.  Mankind is not only evil but desperately wicked.  The Greek word for desperately is “anash” and it means incurable, sick, woeful.  The truth is that we can plead with people to be kinder until we’re blue in the face; we can try to enforce laws of morality among society; we can even indoctrinate children through the public school systems to live in harmony, but until a person is changed by the most Holy God above they will be desperately wicked and evil and selfish and rude.  There is no righteousness apart from God.  Don’t get me wrong.  I will teach and train my children to have good manners and to be tenderhearted and kind, but my teaching will be based upon the foundation of scripture and nothing else.  It is the Word of God planted into the hearts of each of us and the imputed righteousness of Christ that will make the difference in this world.  Teaching kindness is good, but introducing people to Christ is better.  When those around us become true children of God then the rudeness will disappear and we will begin to see a little more kindness in this world.  So, what we all need is A New Year’s Resolution:  Could we share the gospel more, please.

The humble shepherds

shepherdAnd the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.  (Luke 2:20)

Can you imagine what it must have been like to witness this event?  Here we find lowly shepherds, men of humble degree, thought poorly of by most men.  And yet, God chooses to announce through them the birth of His Son    Jesus  – born in a manger.  God’s gift to mankind was first given to the shepherds in the field.   I’m amazed and very thankful that God chooses to work with the small, unimportant things here on earth. Otherwise, where would I be?

When I think about what my Creator has done for me I’m overwhelmed with humility yet at the same time I’m filled with pride.  Author, C.S. Lewis penned this thought well when he wrote, “You come of the Lord Adam and the Lady Eve,  And that is both honour enough to erect the head of the poorest beggar, and shame enough to bow the shoulders of the greatest emperor on earth.” (Prince Caspian)

I am so thankful that I serve a God that I can come humbly before as well as boldly to the throne.  Had it not been for the babe in the manger who became the perfect Lamb of God, died on a cross and then defeated death and rose again all hope would be lost.

As we celebrate this Christmas season and dwell upon what God did for us may we all be as humble as the shepherds.  But let’s not forget what happened to them after their encounter with the Savior of the world.  And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. (Luke 2:17)  I have to ask myself, Who have I shared the good news with this season?  It’s easy to buy a present and give it away but what about giving the gift that all these presents are suppose to represent?  We celebrate Christmas to remind us of Christ birth and we give gifts to remind us of God’s great gift.  My prayer is that I will be like the shepherds and return glorifying and praising God.  And my prayer is that I will make the good news known abroad and tell others    for this is the greatest gift we can give to a lost and dying world.

The Quiet

 woods1

No news, no internet, no email, no TV, no cell phones, no home phone just quiet, nature, family, worship, peace, stillness…..No I haven’t just described some respite for overworked and stressed out families; I’ve just described my new home.  It’s located in a beautiful National Forrest, 4 miles past the middle of nowhere, Mississippi.

I can handle not watching or even listening to the news, for its rather depressing, and we’ve done without TV with the exception of a video now and then, and I knew before we moved that we would have to drive miles to get any kind of cell phone reception, and I had even accepted the fact that it would be a week or so until we could be hooked up for internet and email but when my home phone quit working I didn’t know what to do.  All of a sudden I had lost all connection to the outside world.  What if someone had to call us?  What if there was an emergency?  What would we do then?  Then I realized that we would do what everyone else use to do when faced with the same dilemma….we’d hop into the horse and buggy (or car in our case) and drive to town.   So, with that conclusion I started to enjoy the quiet.  I took time to watch my children play outside and took pleasure in the environment, my children gathered around the piano and we sang songs, I worked and worked hard around the house, I enjoyed the day and the quiet.  I recalled the scripture in Psalm 46 that said, “Be still and know that I am God.”  It’s a lot easier to know and recognize God all around you when the noise of the world is absent.

As soon as the phone company came out and fixed our phones I immediately called my family and friends.  Come to find out, no one had even tried to call.  So much for thinking I had missed something.  Could it be that my Lord wanted to show me that it’s ok to slow down and enjoy the simple things of life?  If I’m not careful I’ll spend my entire life running around doing what is good and completely miss the best things in life.  Sometimes it just takes slowing down and being quiet in order to see what’s best. With that said, I think I’ll go and take a walk……

“And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places” (Isa 32:18)

Saying Good-bye

  crying

It was American author and historian Washington Irving that said, “Sweet is the memory of distant friends!  Like the mellow rays of the departing sun, it falls tenderly, yet sadly, on the heart.”  Oh, how I wish I could express my thoughts so eloquently.

In a few days our family will pack the last boxes onto the moving truck and start a new ministry.  This move will be bitter/sweet.  Sweet because we are so excited about our new church and know that we’re living in obedience.  Bitter because God has blessed us with many friends that we will greatly miss. In the journey of life it seemed as though I’ve passed by this place but for a moment yet I have not gone untouched and my prayer is that my life has touched others as well.   It’s never easy to move and leave behind dear friends yet it is in the leaving that we have hope of meeting again.  For it is in the meeting again that makes those moments even more precious.   So I will not cry because this journey is over; I’ll smile because it happened.

Obama Christians

Note:  The following article was written a few days ago and because of my anger when writting it I have purposely waited on posting.  While I am still angry at the direction our country has taken I do not want my anger to influence my love for others or even my logic.  This article deals with professing Christians voting for Obama.  Many of these people are blind to the truth, in fear of judgment, and I will fervently pray for them and our nation as a whole.

I just finished reading an article that said a poll taken by The Barna Group states that half of “born again” Christians will be voting for Obama come November 4th.  (www.onenewsnow.com/election2008)

There is no doubt that we are living in the last days.  When people who confess to be “born-again” can vote for a man running for President who is the most extreme pro-abortion member of the United States Senate, it is indeed perilous times.  Not only does he support abortion but also strongly approves homosexual activism.  From questions about his Muslim background to his anti-Israel comments; this man is just plain scary.  Yet, according to the polls, half of “born-again” Christians will be voting for him.   The article went on to say that those who will cast a vote for Obama will do so because they believe that he will do a better job restoring American’s reputation and handling the economy.   Let me see if I’m clear on this…what these so-called Christians are saying is that voting for our pocket books should triumph over voting for godly principles.  And, voting based on morals really has no place in our current society.  In fact, our religious beliefs should be left out of government all together.  Christianity has been taken out of our schools, universities and government.  We the people have stood by and let it happen.  And now, people actually believe that their Christian convictions should be separate from their political views.  Unbelievable!

I guess if the liberal left had their way Christianity would be taken out of every aspect of society.  Let’s just leave it for Sunday mornings in the churches.  Are we really that far from it?  Let’s see.  Christians will work for companies who are anti-God (how many times have you heard about Christian people working for casinos, beer companies, etc), they will allow their children to be indoctrinated by anti-Godly systems (children being taught evolution, homosexuality and humanism), they throw money into the hands of the anti-Godly media (supporting the filth of Hollywood), and they will cast votes for people who promote anti-Godly views.  It won’t be long until they start coming into the churches proclaiming that the doctrines are too harsh, that the speech is too hateful and that preaching against sin is unacceptable.  Oh, never mind, they’re already doing that!

Americans    If you don’t live like, walk like, work like, talk like, look like or vote like a Christian    quit calling yourself one!   I guess these people will continue to call themselves Christ-like until one day when they wake up and are told by Christ himself, “I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”  Matthew 7:23

I fear greatly for our country.  If it was just the unsaved that were blinded I would have hope.  But God help us when “born-again Christians” have become so blind to the truth.  America, take off the blindfold, for there is one truth that we will witness found in Galatians 6:7.  Be not deceived; God is not mocked:  for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.  Our country has been sowing, now we reap!  God have mercy!

Evolution

Last night my husband and oldest son and I watched Ben Stein’s “Expelled, No Intelligence Allowed”.  If you have not had an opportunity to watch this I highly encourage you to.  In this eye opening documentary, Stein exposes the hypocrisy of the atheist’s double standards of teaching in classrooms and universities and well as brings to light the connections between Darwinism and abortion, euthanasia and Hitler’s killings.  As he interviewed atheist after atheist one thing that I noticed was that many of them referred to their early religious beliefs and how after a semester or two of college their eyes were opened to the “truths” of evolution.  As I’m watching this I’m wondering how many people have been brought up in Christianity (including Darwin himself) only to have the influence of one professor destroy their faith.

It’s not just college students who are having their faith destroyed.  Evolution is taught as early as pre-school.  Just try and go to the local library and find a picture book on dinosaurs without having the lie of evolution jump off the pages.  It usually goes something like this….Dinosaurs lived millions and millions of years before humans.

If we as parents leave the teaching of science up to PBS, the classrooms or universities then we will have children who will question their faith and be taught that the Bible is nothing more than a collection of stories for the weak-minded.  So what is a Christian parent to do?  First, you must educate yourself.  Mom and Dad, Have you looked through your child’s textbook for accuracy?  Do you know how old the earth is?  Can you explain the Creation account found in Genesis?  Can you explain what happened to the dinosaurs?   Can you explain the difference between micro and macro evolution?  God has an answer for all of this.  True science can be verified by the Word of God.  If we do not ground our children in the Rock-Solid Scriptures they will easily be deceived to believe a lie.  We must not be naïve.   Evolution is not an innocent teaching.   Evolution is not only anti-science (for true science can be tested) but it is a dangerous religious belief.  The same belief that molded the evil thinking of Adolph Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Margaret Sanger, and Karl Marx    all of who have caused untold suffering and pain in this world. Why would we allow our children to be indoctrinated in these same teachings?  If an hour of Sunday School each week is all the teaching our children receive then they will not be strong enough to fight off the lies of the enemy.   It’s time to wake up.

Pastor Appreciation Month

October is Pastor Appreciation Month.  I don’t know when this tradition started but I do know that every Christian magazine and book store catalog I get in the mail reminds me of this.  Maybe Pastor Appreciation Month was around when I was a child and I just don’t remember.  But this I do know, growing up I had immense respect for pastors, preachers and evangelist.  In fact, everyone did.  To be a man of God meant something.  It seemed that everyone understood the high calling of these men.  Do we now have to have a month dedicated to these men because society as a whole has disregarded them?  Or is it because many do not live up to the high calling in which they have been called?  Maybe a little of both?  What a sad place we have come to.

Unless a person has been there or lived with someone who has, one could never understand the responsibility placed upon a minister.  I’m not even talking about the physical or emotional demands, although they are usually great.  What I’m talking about is the overwhelming accountability to stand before God and preach His Word.  Do people realize how huge this is?  James Chapter 3 tells us that they will receive the greater condemnation.  Ezekiel Chapter 3 talks about the watchman and how if he fails to warn the wicked their blood is upon his hand.  Hebrews 13:17 says that these men watch for our souls and must give account; for this reason we should obey and submit so that they can do it with joy and not grief, otherwise it is unprofitable for us.  Do we understand this?  These men will stand before God one day and give account for us.  The weight is enormous.

When men of God stand before me I have one obligation and that is to determine if they are speaking the truth.  That is all that matters.  Is this man a false prophet or is he preaching true doctrine and correctly dividing the Word of God?  If he is a true man of God and speaks, “Thus saith the Lord” then I better listen.  For if I have a problem then in reality my problem lies with God himself, not the messenger.  Oh dear friends, we as God’s people had better be careful.

I heard a story once about a man who asked his neighbor if he could borrow his lawnmower, to which the neighbor replied,

“No, I’m sorry you can’t.  There are no direct flights from Chicago to New York today.”

He neighbor said, “What does that have to do with me borrowing your lawn mower?”

“Nothing,” he said, “but if I do not want you to borrow it, one excuse is just as good as another.”

You see, when a person does not want to hear the Truth of God proclaimed they will use any excuse, for one is just as good as another.  Men will listen to our excuses but someday we will all stand before God and be without excuse.

Although it’s sad that we’ve come to this place a person who reads the Word of God really isn’t surprised.  In Scripture every prophet of God who proclaimed truth and preached with boldness was hated and despised. (Hebrews 11:32-40)  Jesus warned his followers “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.” (Joh 15:18-19) And Paul warns Timothy, “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” (2Ti 4:2-4)

Has the time come?  Ask a minister how many people will truly endure sound doctrine and see what he says. Oh, my heart breaks for the condition we are in.  And yet I have a peace for my heart rejoices that there are still men of God worthy of appreciation……(October or not)!

Let the elders that rule be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward. Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses. (1Ti 5:17-19)
